Today was the last visit we have to make to the pediatrician's office to check Zoey's weight. She weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces today...10 extra ounces she's gained since her birthweight! Next Monday is her 1 month checkup...and my checkup, too! I'm hoping they don't give her too many shots and that I get the go-ahead to start working out again. AT LEAST walking the dog around the neighborhood!!!
Today also marked the first time I drove Zoey Moon all by myself. Up until this point, and I feel so silly typing it but whatever, I had to sit in the back with her while someone else drove. I'm sorry, but her little head is too tiny for her carseat, and she has zero neck control, so if she starts to get bobble-head and goes too far forward she could cut off her air supply! I have a mirror on the backseat headrest, though, so I can watch her, and I promised myself to not stare at her...to pay attention to traffic, and I did. LOL She's almost a month old, though, and I'm feeling more comfortable with her and with her being in the car so it wasn't that big of a deal today, actually. It felt really good to be behind the wheel again. If you haven't guessed, I'm a bit of a control freak. Go figure. LOL
I came home today and read her a book and gave her some Tummy Time. She really was enjoying herself for a few minutes and then had enough of it. She's starting to lift her head a lot, but can't really keep it up for longer than a few seconds. And she's starting to smile on purpose a lot more often. I LOVE when she laughs in her sleep...it...is...stinking...adorable! I absolutely look forward to the day she laughs on purpose...while she's awake...and when we can make her laugh! She's a whole lot of fun...
I realized today that I need to get busy making the next size up of diapers!!! I had a moment of panic about it, actually. I had this crazy idea that when she was a baby I'd have loads of time on my hands. I mean, all babies do is eat, sleep, and poop, right??? RIGHT! Except they are CONSTANTLY (it seems) eating...and what goes in must come out, right? And when she's not eating or needing to go potty...she is sleeping, but it's not like it's 6 hours at a time or something. LOL I know... I was completely naive. Oh well. How better to learn than to do, right? We'll get it all figured out. I think we're doing pretty good considering we just moved. I mean, I have a lot that's been accomplished in the last month! hehe And, honestly, I couldn't have done it without help from our wonderful friends and my sis, Lia, and Bryan's mom, Pam, and sis, Sarah while they were out here; Bryan deserves a medal, too, for all the sleepless nights and long days he's put in. We're very fortunate, indeed!
We picked up Monkey's official birth certificate on Friday and got her Social Security card in the mail... It's just so incredible to see a whole new person in the world that WE made...complete with official documents and everything! LOL Thank you, God, for such a beautiful life.
